i was just cruising through the web yesterday (and this morning) and wow, there are so many talented people out there making beautiful things. my favorites at the moment are boygirlparty and ifnbooks. if you love notecards or screenprinted journals, these are the places to go. cut and paste is also a hub of ever-growing creative activity. (the owner has hundreds of crazily talented designers on board that she consigns from her site.) very cool.
well, it's another sunny and warm day here in lala land. tonight's german class with a lovely test on reflexive verbs and adjectives that turn themselves into nouns. I think I am learning more about grammar now than i ever did back in school. :) you know, i distinctly remember thinking in elementary school as we approached those difficult grammar concepts in our language books that this would be the year i would understand. haha but most of my teachers taught grammar by way of having us copy out long lists of rules. why do teachers think that writing rules cements it in children's brains? (maybe for some people it does, but for me, writing out things is just a sign of procrastination and a sure sign that i'm not learning a thing...) It wasn't until 9th grade when i had a wonderful english teacher by the name of Mrs. Breyer that many of those concepts took shape in my brain. maybe because she made us use them in our essays. (wonders of wonders!)
some music that is absolutely beautiful and mellow like a summer day: jorge drexler.
book i'm reading: the atonement
movie i'm seeing this friday: hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy

And I had such great intentions!
With the winter we have had here in L.A., you'd think that by now I would be all finished with the aforementioned BLANKET but it just didn't happen. Anyone with any tips on how to finish a blanket without going crazy may email me or add your comment below. ;) Oh, but what guilt! I can't believe how much a pile of yarn can induce such guilt in me but it does. Silly blanket. I mean...
To be completely honest, the last few months have been so incredibly dry creatively. I don't know if it is my job sapping out all of my energy or if it is the inevitable give and take in life, but whatever it is, it feels weird. I did knit a sweet scarf for my mom this year for her birthday but compared to what I used to be making it is kind of sad. Hopefully the warm air will cure me. ;)
Spring is finally here which is soooo wonderful! For the last two weeks I have been going home when it is still LIGHT and doing my runs while it is LIGHT and I can hardly get over it! :) No more running in the dark and in the rain! Yahooo! Now it is time to get those creative spring juices flowing...I want to start making collages again and my sister's boyfriend gave me a bunch of watercolours that must be put to use...fun, fun.
Back to running, I want to say that I HIGHLY recommend going on Nike Runs. If there is a NikeTown in your area, you have got to check them out. (go to www.nike.com, click on running, and proceed to community) Every Monday after work, about a hundred of us meet at a local restaurant and then go on our run. It is sooo much fun and a nice break from the all-by-myself runs I usually do. Another benefit: you can borrow Nike shoes for the run which is pretty snappy I'd say.
This weekend is just around the corner...what to do, what to do? :) I'd like to be outside so I think a hike is in order. Next week some friends and I are going to hike in Griffith Park here in L.A. I love that there are so many hikes right here in the midst of the city. Love it. :) Well, I'd better go for now...
