This is what happens when you arrive at the airport in Prague the afternoon before your flight is leaving and you are afraid that if you go to sleep, all those warnings in Lonely Planet will come true and you'll wake to find yourself luggageless, passportless and moneyless. Drawing my memories of the summer and then coloring them in proved to keep me awake and amused for much of the night. For the rest of the hours I people-watched and prayed that the little cafe would open soon so I could get a coffee. I remember standing in line for it the next morning and trying to hold back my disappointment when it arrived in a doll-sized plastic tea cup. Just three little sips worth. ::sigh::
I can't believe that was eight years ago already. I arrived back in New York on August 18, 2001 and was so exhausted (and motion sick from turbulence) I only remember two things--being sad that I couldn't see the Statue of Liberty because the plane turned and being consolidated because at least I saw the twin towers. Wow.
