My mom introduced me to these two poems by Gerard Manley Hopkins several years ago. She read them out loud and the beautiful, crisp sounds flew into the air like autumn leaves fluttering into my ears. mmmm (maybe I shouldn't try to write metaphors...ha. let's just say they are lovely.)
I read these poems often as they are posted by my computer at work. I read them and think about how landscape is "plotted and pieced" (one of my favorite things to see when I'm flying) and wonder at the grandeur of God that 'flame(s) out, like shining from shook foil". Beautiful.
I recommend you read them out loud too. Slowly and carefully. They might surprise you.
