Time

Emma and Alex in their wedding outfits. Note how Emma is holding her dress like Cinderella would. Love!

Time is moving slowly. And swiftly. How does that work? Every week I have a list of things to do wedding-wise and every day I work on something and then suddenly at the end of the week, I get to cross all those things off. Done. Moving on to the next thing. It has surprised how much work it takes to pull off a simple wedding. And by 'simple' I mean, cupcakes and punch... basically, a laid-back coffee hour after the ceremony.

This whole process has been s t r e t c h i n g, mostly because I normally like to get things DONE, FINISHED, COMPLETE as soon as possible, which has been somewhat impossible. As romantic as it sounds and as much as I try (oh, how I try!) I struggle to be the 'joy in the journey' person. The person who says, 'oh, the journey is even better than the destination!' I nod along and think, 'yeah, me too!' and then speed along to getter done so I can Be There Already. Ah me.

So it has been a learning process.

What has been beautiful and precious and humbling has been the family and friends who are making this even possible. The truth is, I cannot do this all on my own. And I don't want to do this on my own. We come from families and from community...we want to be married in that context as well. It is going to be such a wonderful day.

I cannot wait! :)

Joy in the Waiting

(not my photo but a beautiful shot of one of my favorite beaches of all time in Ferndale, CA)

I am discovering there is an undefinable Joy whose companions are Hope and Waiting.
